APPLICATION PROCEDURES

 

Following are the admission procedures if you wish to have your son or daughter apply for admission to Westminster Academy. If you have any questions, please call our office, 901 380-9192

 

Important Admission Dates

    
December 17, 2004  - Deadline for sibling applications

     January 14, 2005  - Application deadline

    
January 31, 2005  - All application materials due

    
February 11, 2005  - Admission decisions announced

 


Kindergarten Applicants

Child should be five by June 1.

  • Schedule a parent interview � both parents strongly encouraged to participate � by calling (901 380-9192). Please inform the office in advance if both parents cannot attend.
  • Complete application and return with a nonrefundable $75 fee.

APPLICATION FOR ADMISSION

 

  • In early January, your child will be scheduled to be part of a group visit with other applicants to assist in determining kindergarten readiness. Specific information regarding the visit will be made available only after Westminster Academy receives the application (including parent questionnaire and fee).
  • Parents must complete and return Kindergarten Readiness Questionaire (included for prospective families with students entering Kindergarten, from the office or click on the link below)

KINDERGARTEN READINESS QUESTIONAIRE

 

  • It is possible that additional testing may be required. Cost for such testing would be at the parents� expense.

First Grade Applicants
Schedule a parent interview � both parents strongly encouraged to participate � by calling (901 380-9192). Please inform the office in advance if both parents cannot attend.

  • Complete application and return with a nonrefundable $75 fee.

APPLICATION FOR ADMISSION

 

  • After applying and completing the parent interview, schedule your son or daughter to visit in the first grade by calling (901 380-9192). NOTE: First grade meets for half the day and dismisses at noon.
  • It is possible that additional testing may be required. Cost for such testing would be at the parents� expense.
  • Forward to Westminster Academy any report cards from previous schools. A Transcript Request Form is available at our office.
  • If available, forward copies of all standardized testing to school.

Second Grade through Twelfth Grade Applicants
Schedule a parent interview � both parents strongly encouraged to participate � by calling (901 380-9192). Please inform the office in advance if both parents cannot attend.

  • Complete application and return with a nonrefundable $75 fee.

APPLICATION FOR ADMISSION

 

  • For third through twelfth grades, submit a copy of a recently graded writing sample your child has completed.
  • After your parent interview, schedule a time for your son or daughter to visit for the entire day. Your child will visit the grade of his current grade. During the visit he or she will be asked to complete a writing sample and math assessment, and be interviewed. This interview may be completed by the teacher or by an administrator. Please prepare your child by letting him or her know that these things will be occurring during the visit. Your child is welcome to return at any time to visit in the grade he or she will be entering.
  • Have current teacher (Math and English) recommendations completed and returned (available from the office or click on the link below)

CONFIDENTIAL TEACHER RECOMMENDATION

 

  • Request that official current transcripts be forwarded to Westminster Academy.

REQUEST FOR RECORDS

 

  • It is possible that additional testing may be required. Cost for such testing would be at the parents� expense.

Home School Applicants
We are a Home School friendly school. We recognize that there may be a need to adjust our requirements for students who have been schooled at home. We do so gladly. Please follow general requirements for the appropriate age group with the following exceptions: Teacher recommendations � Please identify a non-family individual who knows your child well and who can reflect on your child𠏋 ability to succeed in a school environment. Examples may include, but are not limited to, a 𡤧o-op� teacher, a tutor, a Sunday School teacher, Awana Leader, Scout troop leader, coach, etc.
