Jamie Armstrong
Sports Centre Manager

At a young age I gained my first taste of working in the leisure industry as I trained and worked as a lifeguard at a small multi-use leisure centre in Gloucestershire. In time I gained valuable experience and qualifications and progressed to a Duty Officer. On concluding my studies at school I left the Leisure Centre to continue my studies at Liverpool John Moore’s University, studying Sports Development with P.E. My Degree led me into Sports Coaching, giving me the opportunity to work alongside
some great coaches in both America and the UK. Originally from Stratford Upon Avon, I moved down to London to work for a sports coaching company as a multi-sport coach, working in primary schools across London delivering high quality PE lessons. In January 2011 I was given the opportunity to return to the leisure industry as a Duty Manager at Academy Sport. I embraced the role and built up great
rapport with Westminster Academy and partners, which led to, in May 2013, being
offered Sports Centre Manager at Academy Sport.  As Sports Centre Manager I have been given great opportunities to develop and progress the centre, culminating in an Active Westminster Award for ‘Active Place’ in November 2012.

Shkurta Sadriu
Receptionist

I have worked in many organisations such as West Ham United Football Club, Allders Department Store and QS PLC. At QS I worked as a cashier and then later I was promoted to a supervisory role, from which I gained a lot of experience within customer care/service. I then started to pay particular attention to my education at Metropolitan University as a business management student; from there I had a year off from working as I was blessed with starting a family and now have two wonderful boys. Since then I have had roles volunteering within the charity industry. Then in 2011 I was given the opportunity to work at Academy Sport as a full-time Receptionist. This has allowed me to work with people within the community and local residents. In this time I have built up great relationships with staff, customers and partners and really enjoy being part of the Academy Sport Team!

Drew Woodley
Assistant Manager

Originally from Australia, where I worked in the health and fitness industry for a total of 6 years, I spent 4 of these in the health and leisure centre at the world famous Sydney Cricket and Sports Ground Trust, (SFS) & (SCG).  This facility is home to elite sporting stars and codes such as Rugby Union, Rugby league, AFL, Football and soccer.

With qualifications in fitness and health, my experience over the years includes group exercise classes, personal training and weight resistance training. Upon relocating to the UK in 2012 to pursue personal and professional goals, I acquired a temporary position as Duty Manager with Academy Sport.

Since my time with the Academy, I have been privileged to have been able to work with dedicated and professional people in the health and fitness industry, and also to utilise my experience and expertise while being here. Starting my career in personal training and progressing through the ranks from casual gym assistant, to full time gym floor supervisor, to Duty Manager, and now to Assistant Manager, has enabled me to call upon my accumulated knowledge for the Academy.

Having a long personal relationship with sport and physical fitness throughout my life has helped see my passion and dedication within the health and fitness industry succeed. I look forward to a very successful, long and rewarding time while here at Westminster Academy Sport.
