WA has a new project in the pipeline! In September, some our Year 10s elected to join the WA Garden Internship: working on transforming the patch of land at the side of the Academy into a beautiful, sustainable garden. You may have seen this hardworking group of young men planning, digging and planting every Friday. They have chosen to create a vegetable garden in the main space alongside Alfred Road and a wildlife garden in the shade by the footpath: what was wasteland will be a flourishing paradise come the summer!
This project forms part of the forthcoming WA Green Year, run by students for the school and local community. Upcoming projects from January will include energy reductions, community gardening and even the creation of a roof garden on our third floor terrace (we hope!).
Our vision is that Westminster Academy and the community can work together from our big, green building to promote healthy lifestyles and a love for our big, green Earth!
